The Coaching Inn Group has appointed a new managing director as it looks to grow its booming pubs with rooms business.

Adam Charity has been promoted from chief operating officer with immediate effect following a rapid period of growth for the group.

He joined the business in 2008, working behind the bar at the White Hart in Boston, and has rapidly progressed through the ranks.

Coaching Inn Group was bought by RedCat Pub Company in 2021 when it had 18 sites and has since doubled in size to 36 locations.

It has revamped many buildings in heritage market towns, national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty throughout England and Wales.

Earlier this year RedCat’s chief executive Richard Lewis called the Coaching Inn Group the “jewel in our crown” after it helped the wider company’s EBITDA rise 290% to £8.8m in its last financial year.

Coaching Inn Group has also reported a strong Q2 performance this year, with total like-for-like sales up 5.4% and accommodation like-for-like sales up 10.1%, amid a wider boom in the pubs with rooms market.

Lewis said Charity had led the business to “two record-breaking years for sales”.

He added: “I have no doubt that he is the best person to take the business to the next level, as we look to grow and build on everything we have achieved so far.”

Charity said he was looking forward to finding new locations to expand the Coaching Inn Group brand.

Last month Coaching Inn Group was named Large Hotel Group of the Year by consumer champion Which?.

The Coaching Inn Group was founded in Lincolnshire in 1996.
